Village Hall Renovation
Over the next few weeks we will be renovating the Village Hall. This will include:
Replacing the old carpet with LVT flooring. This is more practical, easier to keep clean, and will give the Hall a fresh, lighter feel.
Repainting and creating a timeline/photo board showcasing village history.
Updating the kitchen area.
Installing a screen to allow for games nights and other events.
We aim to have the work completed by 23 May when there will be a Cheese and Wine evening for people to see the newly refurbished Hall for themselves.
Mithian Duck Race
On 28 March we raced ducks down Trevellas Coombe having lots of fun and raising £130 for the Village Association and School. Our thanks to everyone who came along and congratulations to the sponsors of the winning ducks.
Co-Option to the Committee
The Village Association is pleased to announce that we have co-opted Gary Springall to the Committee. Most people will know Gary from the Miner’s Arms and the hugely successful 24 hour danceathon he organised last year. We look forward to him using his talent for fund raising and creating fun on the Committee this year.
Village Annual General Meeting
Our AGM was held on 27 February. We began the meeting with a few words about Alan who contributed so much to the village and who sadly passed away this week. Jane then reviewed the past year and Geoff presented the accounts. The following were elected to serve as trustees for 2026:
Jane Cashmore (Chair)
Jonny Edwards (Treasurer)
Andy Netherwood (Secretary)
Vanessa Corbey
Emma Windsor
Anouska Andreou
Anthony Phillips
John Gray
We then discussed a program of events for 2026 and some exciting ideas for the Hall – more details to follow!
